Roca, named the world’s best pastry chef of 2014 by Restaurant magazine, took time off from his duties at the Girona, Spain-based restaurant—which he runs with brothers Joan and Josep—to teach the class. The event is tied to a BBVA-sponsored tour to the U.S., Mexico, Peru and Colombia, for which the Roca brothers will close El Celler de Can Roca for five weeks starting in August. Two of the best students from each region will be invited to study under the Roca brothers back in Spain.

Following EFSA’s earlier positive recommendation, the European Commission has granted marketing authorisation for Lallemand Inc.’s Vitamin D baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). This development helps make bread and other yeast-leavened bakery products to become even healthier foods for European consumers by being new daily sources of vitamin D when baked with Lallemand’s VitaD baker’s yeast.

And like many of us Baby Boomers in America, I could stand to lose some weight.
