The International Union of Bakers (UIB) and the International Union of Confectioners (UIPCG) have decided to merge, thus constituting the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC), starting January 01, 2014. On this date, the assets of both Unions will be put in common. The decisions to dissolve UIPCG and UIB were respectively made during the extraordinary Congresses that UIPCG held in Hamburg (Germany) last March 10th and UIB held in Casablanca (Morocco), last March 21st.
Over the last months, both global organisations have worked jointly on the By-Laws of the new International Union to be created, in order to ensure a balanced development of both bakers and pastry chefs worldwide. UIB and UIPCG will continue working until the end of 2013, while all Delegates from both International Unions will be invited to take part in the Congress to be held in Granada (Spain), from September 13th to 16th, 2013, where UIBC will be formally constituted and its new executive committee elected. This Congress will coincide with the International Congress of Nutrition (ICN 2013), where presentations on bread and its nutritional importance in every healthy diet will be made for the first time in the history of ICN.
