Barry Callebaut acquires ASM Foods

Barry Callebaut is strengthening its presence in Scandinavia by acquiring ASM Foods in Sweden from Carletti of Denmark. The transaction includes a specialty factory in Mjölby, focused on the production of specialty compound chocolate, fillings and inclusions. This acquisition will add a total production capacity of 35,000 tonnes.

A Nestlé programme in the city of Newark in the United States that teaches parents of young children the fundamentals of good nutrition is to be expanded.

‘Nestlé/Newark Now!’, which was launched in 2012 with Newark’s Mayor Cory A. Booker, will reach twice as many families in year two. Some of the mothers and other women who went through the first programme will become ‘peer educators’.

Global consumers are guided by product packaging in their buying behavior, not least in India. We reject products in plastic packaging and feel guilty when we throw away plastic water bottles. We worry about the amount of packaging consumed by society, and when shopping online we might consider having goods delivered in simple standard packaging instead of the original packaging if it makes them cheaper. These are the results of an international study by Innventia, Packaging 2020, carried out in association with Kairos Future.

Indeed, according to new research from introductions of foods and drinks making a high protein claim are almost three times higher in the US than anywhere else in the world, accounting for 19 percent of global new product launches in 2012.
